Special Issue Information

In our journal Anti-Poverty, a special issue is calling for papers about race and religion issues in anti-poverty.

Poverty and religion are two of the world’s most enduring social and cultural phenomena. Race or ethnicity is closely related to religion. They have a long and diverse history and cannot be separated from each other. On the one hand, there is a long tradition of religiously or racially motivated poverty; on the other hand, giving to the poor is often seen as a religious obligation. In recent years, different faith-based organizations and different ethnicities have been recognized in research as important factors in global poverty alleviation. This issue will primarily investigate some of the main areas of inquiry and debate, focusing on the connection between religion, race and poverty.

In this issue, all policies will be further illustrated by relevant case studies. We hope to examine better discussion on religion and race in anti-poverty, such as the relation between religion and poverty, the relation between race and poverty, the role of religion and race in the socio-economic status, the role of religious and ethnic organizations in the fight against anti-poverty, how do people of different religions and races see themselves in society, etc.
