Dear Colleagues,

According to the 2030 agenda, moving towards the sustainable development of countries is one of the most important goals of the United Nations to end poverty and ensure peace and prosperity for the people of the world. This cannot be achieved except by using strategies to improve health and education, reduce inequality, and economic growth, and deal with all kinds of accidents and disasters. As per the Brundtland report, sustainable development entails undertaking measures that fulfill the requirements of current generations without compromising the capacity to satisfy the needs of succeeding generations. The sustainability and resilience of hospitals as a showcase of the health sector is one of the most important indicators of sustainable development in countries. Hospitals play an essential role in the welfare of society by providing physical, mental, and economic health to people. They are the first space that injured people take refuge in after various emergencies and disasters. The demand for hospital services is increasing significantly due to population growth, chronic diseases, and emergencies such as epidemics, pandemics, and climate change. Therefore, to deliver high-quality healthcare services, it is crucial to develop sustainable hospitals that are safe, resilient, and environmentally friendly. To create sustainable hospitals that benefit patients, staff, and the environment, it is crucial to adopt policies for energy efficiency, technological advancements, green thinking, waste management, green spaces, and affordability.

Thus, we are interested in matters concerning the identification of the elements of sustainability in hospitals, the formulation of policies, and the identification and demonstration of solutions that can be employed to enhance and oversee hospital sustainability in light of the realities governing healthcare institutions. In this context, it is crucial to gather experiences, knowledge gained, and initiatives carried out in various nations and communities. Research articles and reviews in this area of study are welcome.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
