Dear colleagues,

Solar energy converted into electricity by photovoltaic cells or panels plays an important role nowadays. The increase in the power generated by the PV system depends on several factors such as the performance of the PV panels [1], the use of the best MPPT methods to extract the maximum power [2], the performance of the inverters, and the choosing components in function of the geographic and climatic conditions.

The extraction of the photovoltaic cells and panels parameters can conduct to increase the performance of the photovoltaic system and at the same time at a better forecast the power generation. Using the solar cell models and the metaheuristic algorithms the parameters can be accurately extracted.

The photovoltaic system can be simulated, emulated, or physically achieved. All three cases can be successfully used to analyze their performance. Also, using modeling can be used to find solutions for enhanced performance.
