The progress of biotechnology in the last decade has led to the development of innovative biomaterials. Especially, the biocompatible materials that can be used in order to repair bone defects or as coating material for the metallic implants and that can easily adapt under the physiological conditions, have attracted the researcher’s attention. Another important aspect is represented by the development of new biomaterials with superior biological and antimicrobial properties for potential applications in the biomedical domain. Also, the need for innovative biomaterials that can be used as drug vectors in the orthopedy/stomatology field is continuously increasing.  Therefore, in achieving these properties (biological, physico-chemical), an important role is played by the fabrication method, the chemical composition and last but not least by the surface properties of the material.

In this Special Issue, will be included original research articles that are presenting the advances and the latest developments made in the biomaterials field. Additionally, updated reviews regarding the biomaterial’s fabrications, characterizations and applications will be included in this Special Issue.
