The river estuary has an economy based on activities such as fishing, tourism and food

production, which depend directly on the environmental quality of the estuary and

associated aquatic ecosystems. However, estuary contamination can negatively affect

environmental quality. Knowledge about its ecotoxic effects on the early life stages of

fish is limited. Furthermore, ecotoxicity will be analyzed on zebrafish (danio rerio)

based on mortality rate, hatching rate, rate of spontaneous movement (neurotoxicity),

heart rate (cardiotoxicity), frequency of morphological changes and morphometric

parameters, during 144 h of exhibition. The results will be important for the assessment

of environmental risks in the river estuary and for the implementation of environmental

management measures to protect aquatic life.
