Dr. Sci. Natalia Vladimirovna Kamanina – Leader of the team, Head of the Laboratory for Photophysics of media with nanoobjects at Vavilov State Optical Institute. She coordinates the job of the team, participate at all experiments and analyze the data.

Dr.Sci. N.V. Kamanina has current interest in the areas of investigations on organic conjugated materials, liquid crystals, inorganic soft materials of the UV and IR range, laser-matter interaction, fullerenes and biological objects. She has an experience in nanoparticles doping process of organics, in recording of amplitude-phase thin gratings in thin films as well as in developing of LC cells and spatial light modulators; she has an experience in optical limiting effect of laser radiation over visible and infrared spectral ranges, in medical applications of LC structures to orient human blood cell. She has published more than 190 scientific papers in the International and Russian journals. She is an author of handbooks “New Optical Materials – Fullerenes. Properties and Applications” published by Saint-Petersburg Technical University “LETI”, 2002; “Liquid crystals – perspective materials of optoelectronics. Her pioneer ideas and experienced contributions in a creation of nonlinear absorbers, spatial light modulators and liquid crystal cells for aligning erythrocytes of human blood were applied in technique and were certificated by 13 Russian Patents.
She is a member of the European Optical Society (from 1999); of the International (from 1996) and Russian Liquid Crystal Society (from 1991); of D.S. Rozhdestvensky Optical Society (2002). Laureate of the Prize from the International Academic Publishing Company “Nauka/Interperiodika” for best publication in its journals in 2000 year. Laureate of the Russian National President Stipend on Physics and Astronomy (2000-2002). Laureate of Yu.I. Ostrovskii Prize for the best work in the area of optical holography and interferometry (2003). Laureate of the Competition “Idea-Samsung: Perspective Display Technology and Information Processing Methods” organized in Russia on May-June 2004. Laureate of the Competition in the Nanotechnology area organized by Nanotechnology News Network LTD, 2005. She is awarded by Ministry (certificate #37p on February 10, 2012). She was awarded by A.A.Lebedev medal and diploma for the development of the innovation direction “Photophysics of media with nanoobjects” (December 2013) and by S.I.Vavilov medal (November 2016) for the study of the features of the nanostructuring process of the material surface.
She was involved in a work in the RFBR grants ## 00-15-99067, 01-03-33162, 04-03-32249, 08-02-00966; in the ISTC Project 1454 (2000-2002).
She was a chief of the Project “Limiter” (2003-2006), of the Project “Modulator with SEW” (2011), and of the Project “Nanocoating-SOI” (2012-2015) via Russian Technology Base Program; the chief, from Russian side, in ISTC Project IPP A-1484 (2007-2009). In parallel of her scientific activity, she has been lecturing from 2001. She is a Professor of the St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI” (2001-present), a Professor of the St. Petersburg Technical University “IFMO” (2002-2013). She is (was) a supervisor for 13 Master’s Degree Students, including a Chinese student. She was a supervisor of PhD-student Sergei Serov, Natalia Shurpo, Svetlana Likhomanova, which successfully defenses his thesis on October 2012, on June 2016, on May 2017, respectively. At present time she is a supervisor for a 3 post-graduate students (from “LETI” and “Vavilov State Optical Institute”).
